LAROUCHE AND TRUMP: A LOVE–HATE RELATIONSHIP

Complicate relations between two cult leaders in American politics: Lyndon LaRouche and Donald Trump.

WHEN LAROUCHE HATED D. TRUMP

LaRouche hated Donald Trump since he was a protégé of American lawyer Roy Cohn, best known for being Senator Joseph McCarthy’s chief counsel during the Army–McCarthy hearings in 1954, for assisting with McCarthy’s investigations of suspected communists, as a top political fixer, and for being Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. LaRouche and his first associates were Marxist-Leninist Trotskyites.

Dennis King, author of “Lyndon Larouche and the New American Fascism” (1989) wrote:The war on Cohn was triggered indirectly by an investigative series I wrote for the Manhattan weekly Our Town in 1979. These were the first articles to call attention to LaRouche’s neo-Nazism. Former NCLC members say the series freaked out the national office staff. Especially affected were Jewish members, who had rationalized the turn to neo-Nazism via various self-deceptions. […] LaRouche filed a $20 million suit against Our Town, which retained Roy Cohn as its defense attorney. When Security discovered that Cohn had represented Our Town on several previous occasions, they blamed him for the articles. LaRouche started an anti-Semitic, homophobic smear campaign that earned him the reputation he had to be feared by his critics.As a result the larouchies started a smear campaign based on anti-Semitism, blackmails and homophobia. LaRouche earned the reputation he had to be feared. Roy Cohn passed away in 1986 and was replaced by other LaRouche’s “Jewish villains” such as Henry Kissinger, Felix Rohatyn, Leo Strauss or George Soros…

ROGER STONE AS MATCHMAKER?

Stone: “I have a back channel to Trump.”

While publicly singing “Don’t be a chump for Trump!!” or attacking Trump in their newspapers, the LaRouche leadership was ordered to find an access to Trump via their good old friend Roger Stone… who happens to be a good friend of Alex Jones of infowars where LaRouche was often invited since 2011.

Who is Roger Stone? In 1976–80, Stone worked on Ronald Reagan’s two presidential campaigns. He worked closely with the Reagan adviser Roy Cohn, who introduced Stone to his friend and protégé Donald Trump in 1980, then a private businessman. At Stone’s urging, Trump, who was in his 30s, became a major donor to Reagan’s second presidential campaign. The two men hit it off—the start of a tumultuous relationship that spanned both business and politics over the next three decades. In a 1985 Washington Post story, Norman Bailey, a Reagan National Security Council staffer, recounted meeting with LaRouche organization members numerous times—and with LaRouche himself three times. RUSSIAN CONNECTIONS?

“LaRouche’s connections with Russia go back to the 1970s and 1980s,” says British journalist Matthew Sweet, whose 2018 book “Operation Chaos”, chronicled Vietnam deserters who joined LaRouche’s group. “There was a time when his organization had excellent relationships with senior Russian intelligence officers,” Sweet says.

When still alive, LaRouche was as Trump is a fervent supporter of Putin, so are larouchites today. They reject the “Mueller report” as fake, and blame the British or Ukrainians for interfering in the 2016 U.S. presidential election against Trump!

This “Mueller report” was about investigating into Russian Interference in the 2016 United States presidential election, and into allegations of conspiracy or coordination between Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia. A redacted version of the 448-page report was publicly released by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on April 18, 2019.

Although LaRouche was not mentioned in this report, Mueller is well aware of him. Indeed Robert S. Mueller III succeeded William Weld as the acting U.S. Attorney and prosecutor against LaRouche in 1986. As a result, in October that year; authorities from five federal agencies (300 federal and state agents) raided in Leesburg, Va. his national headquarters offices after a Boston grand jury indicted 10 of his followers / associates and 5 of his organizations on charges of credit card fraud and conspiracy. The only person under investigation in the “Mueller report” who can be related to LaRouche was Roger Stone. Three years later in 1989, LaRouche was incarcerated to 15 years in prison and was released 5 years later on parole in 1994.

Having therefore lost his U.S. government connections which LaRouche and his adepts enjoyed in the 1980s, the larouchites focused to expand their ties with political elites in other countries — above all Russia or China. In recent years, LaRouche and his adepts have indeed increasingly emphasized the importance of Russia on the world stage, and have largely aligned themselves with President Vladimir Putin’s international policies, for example on the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.

The dissolution of the Soviet Union occurred in December 1991. While still in jail, LaRouche’s “Schiller Institute” sponsored its first-ever conference in Moscow, Russia, on October 30-31 1992 to announce the release of a Russian-language edition of LaRouche’s textbook on physical economy, “So You Wish To Learn All About Economics?” The next year, the widely read daily Nezavisimaya Gazeta printed a full-page article on how LaRouche had achieved his status as an “American political prisoner” by his claimed authorship of Reagan’s “Strategic Defense Initiative!” (S.D.I.) policy. More than a dozen Russian elected officials and other political activists signed appeals for LaRouche to be freed from prison. LaRouche was released on parole in January 1994 and travelled for the first time to Moscow in April that year. The following year during his second trip to Moscow he was invited to speak at the Russian State Duma and has been regularly invited on Putin’s RT national television channel since 2008. LaRouche was supported by important Russian nationalists.
